Thanks AMS for the second feature on our work. 🌪️ Link in AMS’s caption!

The storm-chasing Doppler on Wheels research team got close observations of the devastating Greenfield, IA, tornado and powerful Duke, OK tornado in 2024. Those observations reveal new insights on how tornadoes evolve--and how they do damage.

MiniCOW packs MegaPOWER!

On April 23, we observed the birth and ingestion of a satellite tornado and Fujiwara effect around the parent Braman, OK tornado. The tornado transitioned two times between a clear eye and a debris ball.

This is prelim data from our most powerful mobile radar, the 1 MegaWatt C-band storm-penetrating miniCOW.

DOW8 scans an Oklahoma tornado (actually, two!) in May 2024. Remember which one this was?

Check out the incredible high-resolution dual-Doppler radar scans! That’s quite the donut hole.

Dr. Karen Kosiba will be breaking this chase down in a case study for tomorrow’s Girls Who Chase “All Things Radar: Severe Weather” workshop! Come check it out - link in comments!

Fun fact... if you attend the Girls Who Chase All Things Radar event this Saturday... there will be mobile radars involved. In fact, a whole 90 minutes of mobile radars AND tornadoes. 📡🌪️

Maybe we'll see ya there -- link in comments.
