Come help us explore cognitive development by playing fun games!! Sign up at: https://www.colorado. How do kids learn to plan ahead, and to delay gratification?

How do they stop themselves from doing things they've been told not to? How do they switch from one activity to another? How do they choose their words? How do social and genetic factors influence these developments? Learning how these abilities develop helps us to understand not only how infants and children think, but also how we come to think as adults.

Big news at the Cognitive Development Center!:

1) We are happy to announce a new faculty hire, Lei Yuan (https://www.leiyuanlab.com/), joining our collection of labs, including Eliana Colunga's DACS Lab (http://psych.colorado.edu/~colungalab/CULanguage/CU-LANGUAGE.html) and Monique LeBourgeois' Sleep and Development Lab (https://www.colorado.edu/lab/sleepdev/).

2) One of our former faculty members, Yuko Munakata, and three of her graduate students — Jesse Niebaum, Winnie Zhuang, and Jade Yonehiro — have moved to the University of California, Davis, with much gratitude to all the families who have participated in projects with the Cognitive Development Center over the years. Hilary Traut chose to stay in Boulder, where she will finish her dissertation with Professor Munakata as her remote mentor. Professor Munakata is now directing the Cognition in Context Lab (https://cognitionincontext.ucdavis.edu/) — their updates on child development research (including projects that families participated in at the Cognitive Development Center) will be available on Facebook here (https://www.facebook.com/CognitionInContextLab/).

3) Grace Dostart, our Center Coordinator, and Ryan Guild, our Professional Research Assistant, are both transitioning to the Renée Crown Wellness Institute (https://www.colorado.edu/crowninstitute/) as Research Project Managers. We wish them both well in their future endeavors!
