Thank you for hosting another WWS course! This group of women were ready to learn and ready to swim! We had an excellent two days going over risk management scenarios, and rescue skills in the water. We look forward to seeing these trip leaders again for a recertification in two years.

Thank you for hosting another Wilderness Water Safety course! What an incredible group of staff, no surprises there! We were so engaged in discussion and scenarios, we forgot to get a group photo. We heard some great advice from Rick Slatten, captain of St. Louis County Search and Rescue Squad, on podcast. Joe and Rick talk all things search and rescue including the highly publicized Curtain Falls incident from 2024. Thank you to our search and rescue teams who help keep our backcountry travel safer.
This is also a great reminder to wear your PFD at all times in a boat, especially in cold water!

Using a PFD or Life Jacket is a great way to get comfortable in the water, especially in new or uncontrolled environments!

They’re also great for swimming when the activity level has been high all day, no matter the swimming ability of the user!
Just ask Olive… she thinks pretty highly of her float coat! She could play fetch for hours in this thing!
