The answer: Confidence.
The statistic doesn't state that only 59% of girls ARE good at math or science, it says only 59% SAY they are good at it. That means they may actually be great at math or science, but they don't have the confidence to believe it.
Confidence can shape whether students raise their hand, tackle a challenging problem, or see themselves succeeding in STEM or other subjects. That's why building confidence is just as important as building skills.
