Some great speakers in American and Ethnic Studies are coming to Seattle for this conference at the EMP next month:
"The annual EMP Pop Conference mixes together ambitious music writing of every kind, in an attempt to bring academics, critics, musicians, and dedicated fans into a collective conversation.
This year’s theme is “Get Ur Freak On: Music, Weirdness, and Transgression.” Presenters include a spectrum of writers, critics, musicians, public intellectuals, and interdisciplinary scholars—Ann Powers, Greil Marcus, Julianne Escobeda Shepherd, Sean Nelson, Mark Anthony Neal, Josh Kun, Eric Lott, Karen Tongson—the list goes on.
Conference keynotes, panels, and performances take place April 16–19, 2015 Museum: the conference is free, and registration is encouraged. See a full schedule and learn more at: http://www.empmuseum.org/calendar/events/pop-conference-2015.aspx
