That look of pure pride when a child holds up something they made all by themselves. ✨

Around here, art time is about so much more than paint and paper. When children share their creations with classmates and teachers, they're practicing communication, building confidence, and learning that their ideas matter. Add in the cutting, gluing, and color mixing, and you've got fine motor development hiding inside a whole lot of fun.

Our little chefs have been busy in our dramatic play area, running their very own restaurant, preparing pretend meals, exploring new foods, and cooking up something special with pots, pans, and spatulas! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

What may look like simple pretend play is actually building so many important skills! Through restaurant play, children are strengthening their fine motor skills as they scoop, stir, pour, and serve; developing cognitive skills as they plan meals and use their imaginations; and growing their social-emotional skills as they communicate, take turns, share, and work together. 💛

Pretending to prepare and taste different foods also creates a fun, pressure-free way for children to become familiar with new foods and practice everyday routines. 🥦🍓🥣

Our Pre-K artists used watercolors to create their own beautiful visions of a sunset! As they painted, they explored the colors we see in the sky, how sunsets are created and how the sky changes throughout the day. ☀️🌤️✨

This colorful experience brought art and science together, building STEAM awareness, scientific thinking, observation skills, creativity, fine motor development and kindergarten readiness. 🖌️💛

Kindergarten readiness can show up in everyday moments, not just big milestones. A few signals to notice:

1. They’re building confidence to try things independently. Examples: walking into a room first, asking for help, or giving something new a try.

2. They’re starting to recognize the letters in their name, even if they’re not reading just yet.

3. They’re showing care and responsibility at home. This could include things like helping pack a bag, feeding a pet, putting away toys, or getting through part of their routine with a little more ease.

Every child grows at their own pace - and readiness looks different for every family. Their preschool teachers can be a great partner in noticing strengths, celebrating progress, and helping you think through what comes next.
