🎉Happy Birthday to Maria Montessori, founder of the Montessori educational approach!

We are proud to carry on Maria Montessori’s legacy through our Montessori schools. Her belief that children deserve dignity, independence, and the freedom to choose their own work continues to inspire Montessori education around the world today.🌍

In 1907, Maria Montessori opened the first Casa dei Bambini (Children’s House) in Rome, where she put her educational philosophy into practice and began developing the methods that would become the foundation of Montessori education.

Montessori at Home: Setting the Table 🍽️

Invite your child to help set the table as a simple way to help your child build independence at home! This everyday activity encourages responsibility, order, coordination, and attention to detail while giving children a meaningful way to contribute to family life.

Try it at home:

🍽️ Gather the materials: Child-sized plates, utensils, cups, and napkins.

🥄 Show them where everything goes: Plate in the center, fork on the left, knife and spoon on the right, napkin folded, and cup above the knife.

🚶 Let them do the work: Have your child carry one item at a time from the kitchen to the table, encouraging careful movements and control.

A simple everyday task can become a meaningful Montessori learning experience!

✏️ Our student at our Mountlake Terrace location is hard at work using Metal Insets!

Metal Insets are a classic Montessori pre-writing material consisting of ten geometric metal shapes that children use as stencils to trace and color within the lines.

As children carefully trace, color, and create, they develop hand strength, pencil control, concentration, and hand-eye coordination—important skills that help prepare them for writing.
