Spent the afternoon dreaming and scheming for a neighborhood birth center and movement home for Boston. Proud of these great organizations, and happy to help move resources towards their vision.
Supporting folks in creating giving plans, channeling their inner activist, and shifting power towards justice.

That’s a wrap on 2023🎉
Some highlights from the year: a year of travel, laughter, family, leadership, and solidarity.
What’s to come in 2024? More travel, more laughs, and more weird. And hopefully catching a few photos of the action (there’s so much that wasn’t captured this year!)
Let’s do this.

In case there was any question.
I will always stand for humanity and justice.

So grateful to be in community with organizations like the Kataly Foundation 🙌
Traditional philanthropy sometimes takes a "wait and see" approach, and working to not ruffle any feathers. They take months to do rapid response funding, and prefer to publish white papers about the issue rather than just moving money.
Well, there is another way.
We can move resources IMMEDIATELY where they are needed most, and also work to unravel our role as being complicit in extractive and exploitative capitalism.
Let us be bold and take risks.
Because the risks that our comrades on the ground are taking are much larger than the "risk" of ROIs and hurt feelings.

Did you see this piece earlier this month?
Leah has done some incredible work for social justice movements, and is navigating a lot of the same questions my clients face, like:
🧐 What does it mean to be in relationship with the organizations I support, beyond writing them a big fat check?
🤑 Can I still live a bougie life while redistributing wealth?
🤔 How do I navigate relationships with family members with different political ideas, or are actively working against the causes I care about?
There's no right answer for any of us, but coaching can help you figure out the right answer for YOU (and it'll probably change over time!)
Check out the article and my coaching packages at the link in my bio ;)

She'd still be a billionaire. 🤷♀️
So, the open call is for $1 million to each of 250 non-profits.
But the need is obviously much greater, and she says she wants to give "until the safe is empty"
So give $1 million to 6,000+ organizations.
I dare you 😉
That's $6 billion, and you'll still have $30B more to go.

Thanks New York! ❤️❤️❤️
I continue to be terrible at remembering to take photos, but thankful for Roshin snapping this one 😍
It was a a whirlwind 48 hours. So many conversations about dismantling capitalism, ranting about philanthropy, and finding new ways to move resources.
Big things are happening, people. And I’m so ready for it.

See you again soon, NYC!
Headed home after a whirlwind few days in the city- seeing clients, friends, and co-conspirators. Few pictures of people, but lots of flowers! New York is ready for spring 🌷🌼
Also, if you think is cool, you should check out Abigail Disney. She's shaking up what out means to be a radical funder and financial activist.

Yesterday I turned 40.
Honestly, the day was easy. Brunch with friends. Cozy afternoon at home.
While it is a big one, I'm really leaning into the extended festivities - next weekend I'll be celebrating with family, and then in February we're doing a big family trip to New Zealand. This adventure has been a longtime coming, and now we get to do it to celebrate big birthday milestones for my mom and I: 40 and 70. (hers is not 'til August, but we're owning this whole year as a big one!)
If we've learned anything from the past three years of covid, it's that time has no meaning, and also time goes quickly. So I'm leaning into ease and moving deadlines to match what feels right. I'm not stressing about milestones or panicking about number of things I said "let's talk about this in January." Things will happen when they're supposed to happen (you know who you are if you're waiting on an email from me!)
This 40-year-old is here for bringing more joy, more ease, and more fun into life. Oh yeah, and also for abolishing the racial wealth gap. Let's fu***ng do that too. Each of us from our own little corners of the world, knowing that we're part of a bigger movement than just ourselves. 💪

We did it y'all!
I'm still gathering some last minute numbers from my clients, but overall we collectively moved more than $6.2 million dollars to social justice movements.
It's hard to play favorites, but here is some of the fantastic work that my clients were a part of (and often in ways beyond just donating!)
*Helping Cambridge Heart amplify their work, and meet a $150,000 challenge grant
*Supporting Movement Voter Project to fund grassroots and political groups in achieving electoral victories across the country
*Paid various types of reparations, including supporting indigenous groups ability to purchase ancestral land.
*And a personal success, I fundraised my family to support an LGBT group in the NC town where my grandparents lived for more than 30 years, after their power station was vandalized and they were forced to cancel a drag show fundraiser. We were able to give more than double what I could have done on my own
