Supporting student mental health starts early.
Boston Public Schools was honored to welcome Executive Office of Health and Human Services Secretary Kiame Mahaniah, MD, MBA and Massachusetts Department of Mental Health Commissioner Emily Bailey to Mozart Elementary School in Roslindale to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month with our Department of Student Support.
Students participated in a reading of “Isaac’s Story,” a story walk, student-led activities, and a special band performance – all focused on helping young people understand that caring for your mental health is just as important as caring for your physical health.
Thank you to our state and school partners for helping create safe, supportive spaces where every student feels seen, heard, and valued.

The Boston Public Schools takes care of our own, and that means we show up for each other.
Longtime BPS school leader Sarita Thomas has battled cancer for years, and her journey highlights a critical gap in the research that shapes cancer care.
The American Cancer Society's VOICES of Black Women study seeks 100K Black women to participate in a long-term study to improve prevention, diagnosis, and health-care outcomes.
This is more than a message. It’s a movement.
