Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies is an interdisciplinary field that examines critically and in global perspective the role of women and gender in society. Students analyze the history and perspectives of women of different cultures and nationalities and investigate women’s artistic, intellectual, and political accomplishments.

Excited to share this co-authored chapter by Professor Elora Chowdhury (with Nazli Kibria, Fariba Salma Alam, and Sharbari Zohra Ahmed) featuring history and experiences of Bangladeshi Americans in the U.S. As part of a new UCLA digital textbook called Foundations and Futures -- “The most comprehensive collection of Asian American and Pacific Islander histories and perspectives available for free and online for high school, college, and lifelong learners.”

Last week, the Association for the Study of Food and Society (ASFS) hosted its annual conference at the University of Vermont.
The theme, "Just Transformations in Food Systems and Cultures," invited critical and bold conversations about building food systems grounded in sustainability, equity, sovereignty, and ecological care.
Thank you to the University of Vermont and the conference organizers for hosting this gathering, we had a great time.
