Listening to and learning from survivors is one of the most effective ways to improve systems and responses to child abuse and sexual assault. We are so grateful to Abigail, Adriana, Lina, and Sophia, and thank them for sharing their journeys through disclosure at this year’s MACA conference.

Today, on this 7th day of Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Assault Awareness Month, survivors, supporters, professionals, and elected officials gathered together at the Massachusetts State House to honor all who have been affected by abuse. We are so grateful to Dacia and Pat for their remarks and advocacy, for Saraliz, Abigail, Adriana, Brian, Elizabeth, Katherine, and Henrique, our leaders who were there and welcomed others, and to everyone in the room for being part of this special day. “I am glad that I was able to speak up for myself and others.” On Victim Witness Advocate Claire Coen’s last day in the Suffolk County DA’s Office, she holds Nissy’s piece and supports her, just as she did through the criminal justice process. Thank you to Nissy, Claire, and everyone who is in the fight against child abuse, sexual assault, and exploitation.
