On this day, 90 years ago, six men had a vision.
In a time that demanded courage and conviction, Russell Gideam, Merton Feewel, Clarence Scott, Lodrick Rivers, Thomas Rivers, and Frederick McClain came together with a purpose greater than themselves, to charter the BADASS Beta Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
Their vision made history. Beta Alpha became the first undergraduate chapter of Phi Beta Sigma in New England, setting a standard of excellence, leadership, and service that would echo across the region for generations to come. What began as a shared belief in brotherhood grew into a legacy rooted in scholarship, service, and the uplift of our communities.
Ninety years later, that vision lives on through every brother who answers the call, building community, leading with intention, and honoring the foundation they laid.
The legacy didnโt end with them. It continues with us ๐ค๐ฝ
