Nuanced interpretations, dynamic energy and a charismatic stage presence are hallmarks of Cuban conductor JESSICA ALTARRIBA. Praised for her communicative skills, impactful performances, and equally vested in both established and well-known repertoire and contemporary compositions, Altarriba was recently selected as a finalist in the Music Director Search for the Fort Wayne Philharmonic season 2027-2028, further reflecting her growing presence on the American orchestral stage. She was appointed as an Assistant Conductor of the Richmond Symphony 2026-2027 season, and served as Assistant Conductor for the Utah Symphony | Utah Opera in 2024-2026, in addition to being a Taki Alsop Fellowship Award Recipient (2024-2026.) Altarriba joined the New Jersey Symphony as the First-ever Colton Conducting Fellow during the 2023–24 season, and is an alum of Chicago Sinfonietta’s Freeman Conducting Fellowship. She holds a Master of Music in Performance (Conducting) from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where she studied under the guidance of Marin Alsop.

This year, the Composition and Electronic Production and Design departments will come together for the 6th year of their wildly successful collaboration program with HYPERCUBE!

This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with nationally recognized performers and learn about how to successfully collaborate with other artists. Each team will receive a recording of their collaboration for their portfolios and promotional use.

Again this year, the residency will end in a concert presentation of all of the collaborations, and video/audio recordings of all of the works.

Applications are due October 13, and the residency will culminate in a live concert on February 19, 2027.

Called “some kind of musical Thomas Edison – you can just hear her tinkering around in her workshop, putting together new sounds and textural ideas” (San Francisco Chronicle), Katherine Balch is a composer interested in found sounds, playfulness, intimate spaces, and natural processes. A recipient of the Rome Prize and a Guggenhiem Fellowship , Katherine’s music has been presented by leading ensembles and festivals including the New York Philharmonic, the Tokyo Symphony, Musikfest Berlin, and Tanglewood. She is an Associate Professor of Composition at Yale School of Music. When not making or listening to music, she can be found hiking, cooking, or building windchimes.

Composer Gregory W. Brown's music has been heard on American Public Media’s Performance Today, BBC Radio, Minnesota Public Radio, Kansas Public Radio, and Danish National Radio; his Missa Charles Darwin received its European debut in March 2013 at the Dinosaur Hall of Berlin’s Museum für Naturkunde. Brown's works have been performed across the United States and Europe — most notably at Cadogan Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and Carnegie Hall in New York City. His latest major works — Gentle Dark and Strange Land — will both be premiered during the 2026-27 season.

Composer, conductor, arranger and pianist, recipient of the 2015 Prime Minister Award for Composers, Ziv Cojocaru (זיו קוז’וקרו) is a multidisciplinary musician, active in the fields of classical, contemporary and popular music.

Mr. Cojocaru received both his Master degrees in Composition and in Orchestral Conducting with distinction at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and completed his Doctoral degree in Composition (Ph.D.) at the Bar-Ilan University.

Dr. Cojocaru is a full-time faculty member of composition and theory at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and serves as a board member at the Israeli Composers’ League (ICL).
