May 30 - Biafra Remembrance Day
On this day, the people of Eastern Nigeria, especially the Igbo people, remember all those who died during the Nigerian civil war. During this war, about 3 to 5 million persons were killed in Eastern Nigeria. The government of Nigeria got ken support from the Soviet Union and Britain; both world super-powers supported Nigeria with more weapons than they needed to execute the war, but the people of Biafra resisted them for 3yrs until 1970 when no-victor-no-vanquish was agreed upon. The people of Biafra refused to surrender and will forever be remembered.
