Today, the Fisher College Criminal Justice Program pauses to honor Memorial Day β a day dedicated to remembering the service members who gave their lives in defense of the United States.
Memorial Day began after the Civil War as Decoration Day, when communities placed flowers on the graves of fallen soldiers. It has since become a national moment of reflection for all who made the ultimate sacrifice.
For those studying criminal justice, the connection to military service is deeply felt. Many of the values we teach β duty, integrity, service, and commitment to community β are rooted in the same principles upheld by the men and women who served.
We honor:
those who never returned home
the families who carry their legacy
and the generations who protected the freedoms we study, defend, and work to uphold

Today, on Peace Officers Memorial Day, the Fisher College Criminal Justice Program joins communities across the nation in honoring the officers who gave their lives in the line of duty.
We especially recognize Massachusetts State Police Trooper Kevin Trainor, who was tragically killed last week when a wrongβway driver struck his cruiser on Route 1 in Lynnfield as he responded to a call. Trooper Trainor was also a colleague of several Fisher College CJ graduates, and his loss has been felt deeply throughout the Commonwealth and within our extended professional community.
His dedication, professionalism, and final act of service reflect the values we teach and uphold within our program.
Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
