The overarching goal of the ECPS is to create an opportunity for a dialogue among the student body and the general public on issues of the day and a subsequent forum to communicate relevant information on such ideas that advances a major shared objective across academia, business and government – a greater appreciation of civic engagement.

The final Emerson poll ahead of Tuesday’s gubernatorial primary in California finds Democrat Xavier Becerra leading the field with 28% support.
Democrat Tom Steyer and Republican Steve Hilton are in a tight race for second place in the top-two primary, with 22% and 21% support, respectively.

A new Emerson national poll finds Pete Buttigieg overtaking Gavin Newsom in a hypothetical 2028 Democratic primary for President, leading 18% to 16%, followed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Josh Shapiro, and Kamala Harris.
In the 2028 Republican primary, support for JD Vance fell 16 points since February, while support for Marco Rubio increased 15 points; Vance holds a slight lead, 36% to 35%.

A new poll in California finds Xavier Becerra leading the top-two primary for Governor of California for the first time in an Emerson poll, while Republican Steve Hilton and Democrat Tom Steyer contend for second place.
The poll also included a sample of likely Los Angeles voters in the 2026 mayoral primary – incumbent mayor Karen Bass leads the field, followed by Spencer Pratt and Nithya Raman.

A new Emerson national poll finds 56% of likely voters disapprove of the job President Trump is doing in office, while 40% approve. Trump’s disapproval increased five points since March.
On the generic 2026 congressional ballot test, the Democratic candidate leads the Republican candidate by 10 points, 50% to 40%.
A majority of voters, 53% think the U.S. military action in Iran was more of a failure.
