This Friday, August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day- a global event held annually that aims to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of drug-related death. It also acknowledges the grief felt by families and friends remembering those who have died or have had a permanent injury as a result of drug overdose, and spreads the message that the tragedy of an overdose is preventable.

"When the weight of the world feels like it’s resting on your shoulders, just remember that it’s okay to take a step back. It’s okay to re-evaluate what’s important. It’s okay to take some time for yourself. It’s okay to recalibrate, to rest, to reassess what is not working in your life & take one step forward to making it even a tiny bit better. It’s okay to change your mind. It’s okay to slow down & even stop, as long as you know you are not giving up. It’s okay to feel lost & confused. It’s okay to be stressed & unsure & let fear get the best of you.
*
The only thing that is not okay is to stay on the ground after you’ve fallen & decide to not get back up. It’s not okay to settle for less than what you deserve because it feels comfortable. You are stronger than you know. You deserve the big life you’ve been dreaming about. It’s not going to come all at once, but you can take steps to getting there. First is doing the hard part of being brutally honest with yourself about what you want in your life. The second step is taking micro steps towards getting there. If you’re not working towards a life where you are in your zone & in the flow, you are actively seeking out a life that is full of what you don’t want. Realize that not every day will be great, but you can do 1 great thing for yourself in each day. Change your mindset & you can change your life. 💖" -

"You deserve peace, you deserve a fresh start, you deserve freedom and space to fill with light, love, hope, joy and any other magical feeling you desire! Forgive yourself, forgive others, it doesn’t make what they did to you ok but it frees you of something their “sorry” could never take back anyway. This realisation came about a month and a half ago and it was huge in me moving forward. Sometimes you have to forgive over and over, you may forgive and then find yourself blaming and resentful again a day later, forgive again! You can do it as much as you need, just remember to forgive yourself as often also!" -
