Educated. Empowered. Unstoppable. ✨

Congratulations to Emily for earning her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting & Finance from Texas Christian University.💜

This achievement is a testament to years of hard work, perseverance, and determination. Along the way, Emily was supported by mentor Erick Ortiz, whose guidance and encouragement helped her navigate challenges and stay focused on her goals.

Emily’s success is more than a degree—it’s a powerful example for the next generation of leaders and a reminder of what is possible when talent, opportunity, and community come together.

We are proud to celebrate you today and always. 💜🎓✨

Join us in celebrating Jazmine, a proud first-generation college graduate of Stonehill College💜 🎓

A talented chef and dedicated scholar, Jazmine graduated with double majors in Criminology and Sociology and a minor in Political Science. Her journey reflects resilience, discipline, and heart—and we’re so proud of everything she’s accomplished.

This celebration feels extra special because Stonehill College is also the alma mater of our founder, Julie Mulvey, making Jazmine’s achievement a meaningful full-circle moment for our Watts 2 Boston community.

Excited for all that’s ahead in this next chapter ✨

The torch continues to shine bright at Northeastern University! ✨

We’re incredibly proud to share that Wendy will be attending Northeastern University this fall as a Torch Scholar, earning a full-ride scholarship through the program. Following in the footsteps of fellow Watts 2 Boston scholar Celeste, the torch is being passed from one inspiring young woman to the next. ❤️

Last month, Wendy had the opportunity to visit Northeastern’s campus for the first time on admitted students day, where she was also able to connect with Celeste and experience firsthand the community and support that awaits her in Boston.

We also want to recognize her LAPD CSP mentor, Officer Frank Muccio, whose encouragement, guidance, and continued support helped make this opportunity possible. Mentorship and community support can truly change lives, and Wendy’s journey is a beautiful example of that.

Congratulations, Wendy — your Watts 2 Boston family is cheering you on every step of the way! 💙

This week marked a huge milestone for our W2B scholar Celeste 🎓✨

Her journey reflects true hard work, discipline, and determination—especially as a first-generation college student paving the way for her siblings and community to follow. Celeste graduated from Northeastern University with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing as a Torch Scholar, a testament to her leadership and commitment to excellence.

She celebrated surrounded by her two younger siblings, along with strong support from her LAPD mentor Officer Erick Ortiz and her W2B mentor Julie Mulvey—both of whom were instrumental in encouraging and guiding her journey. 💙

This moment was more than a milestone—it was the beginning of everything she worked for.

Congratulations, Celeste! The future of nursing is brighter with you in it! We are incredibly proud of you!❤️🤍🖤🩺👏✨

In honor of National Volunteer Month, we’re proud to spotlight one of our incredible volunteers, Kristen. 💙

Kristen has uplifted so many of our youth through her compassionate listening, and support. As a mentor to two students, she consistently shows up with intention and care.

Recently, Kristen took Ashley and Richard to the Grammy Museum, creating a fun and memorable experience. Moments like these go beyond mentorship— they inspire and open new worlds for our youth.

Thank you, Kristen, for going above and beyond! We’re so grateful for all that you do to support our youth to dream big and have fun! 💙

This past week, 9 high school juniors from South LA—students from Students Run LA and Strive—traveled across the country to explore Boston, visiting 7 college campuses, learning about campus culture, and envisioning a future for themselves there.

For many, this was their first time flying—an experience they’ll carry with them forever. 💫

We also had a professional development day where students shopped for professional attire, connected with speakers across industries, and heard from Jazmine, a current senior at Stonehill College preparing to graduate soon.

A huge thank you to Julie for coordinating and driving our students to every campus, and to our incredible host families—the Connors, the Blus, and the Mulvey family—for warmly welcoming our students and providing a safe space. We are also thankful for our professional development speakers who took the time to share their journey with our scholars.

These are the kinds of experiences that shape futures. So proud of our students as they step boldly forward. 💛

From Watts 2 Harvard ✨

This week, W2B Scholars Celeste, Sean, and Emily—also directors of Nothing to See Here: Watts documentary—joined Harvard for a powerful series of events. The day began with two panel discussions at the Harvard Kennedy School, where they shared their truths and lived experiences with Harvard scholars, and community members.

W2B also met with the Boston Police Department for meaningful conversations on community policing alongside LAPD officers, fostering cross-city collaboration and shared learning.

The day concluded with a premiere screening of the documentary at Coolidge Corner.

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported this powerful film. 🎥🎬🎞️✨

Celebrating our Professional Development Associates at the Scholars Recognition Ceremony held at The Wende Museum. ✨

An inspiring evening honoring the dedication, growth, and accomplishments of our scholars as they continue to develop professionally and personally. Students learned about photography by a Pulitzer Prize winning photographer, and shared their captured images with family and friends. Grateful to be part of a community that invests in leadership, learning, and opportunity.

Congratulations to all of our scholars—your hard work and commitment are shaping what’s ahead.
