School safety is a top priority for our slate. To effectively educate and learn, teachers and students cannot be worried about their physical safety. We are highly concerned about the HIB reports and the fighting at the secondary campus. From what we can glean from the reports given at the past board meetings, there are efforts starting to train the teachers and staff on intervention, as well as efforts to help students create a phyiscally safer climate. Our team would like to see more aggressive efforts to address student's physical safety. We include the creation of "brave spaces" in our post to highlight that we must consider student's emotional safety in the equation. We recognize that every neighbor must hold space for people of differing opinions, even when they feel attacked.

🌹 Why "65 Roses"? Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disorder that attacks the lungs and digestive system, primarily diagnosed in children. Because of the phonetically similar phrase, "65 Roses" helps children pronounce the name of their condition. CFF was co-founded by a dphie alum in 1955 and has since increased the life expectancy from 5 to 45 years!
