Drafting IEPs. Monitoring progress. Identifying accommodations. Communicating with families.

The special education to-do list isn’t exactly short. And there are plenty of ways that AI can help.

But here’s the catch: putting it to work takes more than opening a chatbot and hitting “generate.”

It’s about choosing the right tools and using them safely and securely. Then, it’s about asking the right questions and knowing how to review, verify, and refine the answers you get.

Because AI can give you an answer. But educators still make the final call.

That’s why we built our Special Education & AI Toolkit: a practical playbook to help teams put AI to work thoughtfully across special education.

New MTSS process 🤝New student data platform.

For Lower Moreland Township School District (PA), rolling them out together wasn’t a coincidence. It was their whole strategy.

In our latest podcast episode, Scott Cole, Director of Teaching, Learning, and Community Engagement, shares why the district believed the two needed to go hand in hand—and what that decision has made possible for students and educators:

🎯 More targeted support
🚀 More meaningful enrichment
📚 Stronger Tier 1 instruction
👀 Earlier visibility into student needs

And their efforts are already paying off: at Lower Moreland’s lower elementary school, students reading at or above benchmark jumped from 30% to 61% from fall to winter.

But the wins don’t stop there.

Attendance rates tell you who’s already missed school. But what about who’s about to?

Turns out, there are clues hidden in the calendar. 🗓️🕵️

Panorama’s Research Team found that four missed days in a row ≠ four absences scattered across four different days. The pattern matters.

In our latest webinar, we unpack what we learned by studying attendance trends across 400+ schools—and how our new Attendance Forecast feature puts that data to work, helping teams spot warning signs earlier. 🚩

We also dig into which interventions are making the biggest difference and hear from Earlville CUSD 9, where high school attendance jumped from 61% to 90%.

5,000 IEPs. A brand-new funding model. An August deadline. 😅

When Texas changed how it funds special education, Spring ISD had its work cut out for them.

Manually reviewing and scoring one IEP took 45-60 minutes. Multiply that by the number of special education students and… well, that’s a lot of summer.

So, they changed the equation. With Panorama Solara, they cut the process from nearly an hour to just five minutes—including staff review.

But speed was only half the win.

Instead of putting the work on one expert, Spring ISD brought all 13 coordinators and two directors into the process—building expertise in the tool and the new funding model along the way.

They didn’t just beat the deadline. They built the know-how to take on what comes next. 💪

AI is really good at sounding right. In special education, actually getting it right takes more than that.

But when AI can take you from prompt ➡️ generate ➡️ copy + paste in seconds, it’s tempting to move just as fast.

Especially when your team is already balancing complex student needs, heavy documentation demands, limited time, and probably 50 other things.

Before you start prompting, a few ground rules go a long way. What are the best use cases for AI in special education? How can you use it safely? And how should you evaluate the outputs?

That’s why we created our new Special Education and AI Toolkit. Because special education teams don’t just need another list of AI prompt ideas. They need a playbook for using them well.

Inside, you’ll get:
🛡️Guidance for using AI safely and securely
📝 A rubric for evaluating AI-generated content
💬 Pre-built prompts for special education use cases
🖼️ A framework for building and refining custom AI tools

Prompt smarter. Protect what matters. Keep educators in the driver’s seat.

“By next year, 75% of teachers will be using AI regularly.”

On paper, that sounds like an A+ goal.

Specific? ✅ Measurable? ✅ Forward-thinking? ✅

There’s just one problem: What does 75% adoption actually get you? 👀
Because more AI use ≠ better outcomes.

Adoption numbers can’t tell you what you really want to know: whether AI is helping solve key challenges in your district or leading to better student outcomes.

But shifting from “How many people are using it?” to “How is it making our work better?” is easier said than done.

So, we put together four questions to help district leaders set better AI goals—and measure what actually matters.

Big Rapids Public Schools had one very big summer assignment: Redesign its K-5 literacy framework to meet Michigan’s new requirements before school started. ✏️

Estimated time: all summer. ☀️
Actual time with Panorama Solara: one day. 👀

And Solara’s job didn’t end there. Big Rapids found more ways to put it to work—from creating Individual Reading Improvement Plans (IRIPs) to streamlining lesson planning to building seating charts.

Consider that summer assignment… turned in early. 😎

Picture this: Two students each miss 8 days of school.

Same number of absences. Same attendance rate.

But one may be much more likely to keep missing school. 👀

Why? The pattern matters.

That’s what Panorama’s Data Science team found after looking at attendance trends across 400+ schools—and on August 20, we’re unpacking how schools can put that insight to work.

Join us to see:

When Earlville CUSD 9 (IL) faced severe chronic absenteeism, they started focusing on something more fundamental: belonging and relationships. 🤝

Only 18% of students felt they belonged at school. So the district made culture the priority, centralized their data with Panorama, and built a stronger student support system.
