Today, we want you to think about our young girls. Our young African girls that are often taken advantage of. The young girls that we failed to educate. The ones we failed to prioritize. The ones we decided to give away at a young age. The ones we failed to listen to when they wanted to let us know how abusive their men were. The ones we told were nothing but a wife and a mother.⁣⁣

We want you to think about them and start prioritizing them. We want you to question the norms we have longed followed. We want you to realize that by educating them, we are only helping develop our country. By educating them, we are educating a whole generation of brave and strong women. We want you to know that they are not a burden.⁣⁣

Today, we celebrate them, we remember them, and we pledge to help raise their voices.⁣⁣
