The Next Level Learning Lab hosts their Spring Convening today exploring “Where Learning Sciences Meets the Future of Work”. MEDscience founders, directors and teachers of the program will speak on a panel to speak on Lessons and Insights from HMS MEDscienceWORKS. MEDscienceWORKS is a workforce development program, preparing trainees with foundational laboratory techniques and professional skills they’ll need to succeed in the life sciences industry.

“Hi! My name is Adarsh and I’m an incoming medical student at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. During my gap years, I was grateful for the opportunity to serve as a volunteer teacher at HMS MedScience. As the first in my immigrant family to pursue medicine, the opportunity to inspire and support the next generation of students and help them carve their own unique paths into medicine was incredibly meaningful. Whether I was helping a student practice suturing or interpreting an EKG, I found myself learning just as much as I was teaching, and those experiences have inspired me to become a physician-educator.”

MEDscience accepts undergraduate and professional volunteers during the school year. We’re so lucky to have such a great network of pre-professionals who donate their time to our students!

Yesterday we had the opportunity to see innovation in action with at our MEDscienceTECH Surgical Innovation Showcase. At this end-of-the-year event, students pitched bold surgical solutions “Shark Tank” style, demonstrated AI image recognition robotic skills, and asked thoughtful questions during a lively career panel with our judges. Safe to say the future of biotechnology is in very capable hands.

A special thank you to our judges: Brett Rudy and Meaghan Holloran (Austin Prep), Alex Barutis (Boston Children’s Hospital), Trinity Olander (Boston University), and Nolan Vild (Boston University) for guiding, challenging, and inspiring our students.
