Newman ninth graders stepped into the world of pharmaceutical science this week at Novartis!

Through the Community Exploration and Learning Lab (CELL) program, students took part in a hands-on drug discovery experience—creating and encapsulating their own slow-release gel capsules.

They also connected with Novartis scientists during a lunch-and-learn, gaining insight into careers in the pharmaceutical industry.

Just minutes from campus, Novartis is one of many Boston-area partners helping bring real-world learning to life for Newman students.

The world as our campus 🌍

Over March break, Newman students traveled to the Czech Republic, exploring Prague and reflecting in Terezín through history, culture, and connection.

In Prague, they wandered the streets, admired Gothic and Baroque architecture, learned about the city’s folklore, tried local foods, visited shelters, and even participated in art and notebook workshops. In Terezín, they explored the concentration camp, engaged with survivor stories, reflected through theater and art, and considered the lessons of history and resilience.

Their biggest takeaways? Build connections, stay curious, and remember that understanding history and each other matters.

Newman’s Model UN team had an incredible weekend at the GCMUN conference in New York City! Our 15 delegates joined nearly 3,000 students from around the world to research, debate, and collaborate on topics ranging from healthcare to AI legislation.

Congratulations to Bea ’27, Mohamed ’26, Kyan ’26, Mia ’26, and Ruby ’29 for earning Honorable Mention, the highest award of the conference!

National Champions 🏆

For the very first time, our AAA Boys Basketball team are National Prep Champions! Congratulations to Coach Jackson and the entire team on an incredible season and a historic achievement for Newman.

Special shoutout to Chase ’26 for being named MVP of the championship game.

Last weekend, the Cardinal Theatre Company attended the METG (Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild) One-Act Play Festival at Algonquin High School. 🎭

Students performed “Badger” by Don Zolidis, received feedback from festival judges, and spent the day celebrating theatre while watching performances from schools across the region and engaging in workshops.
