Cambridge MA On May 3 Swami Sarvagatananda a senior monk of the Ramakrishna Vedanta Society and long-time head of the Vedanta Society in Boston died at the age of 96 While his death did not make national headlines it is good to reflect for a moment on his life and its meaning so I will tell

Did you ever have a good friend you could always trust? One who helped you through every crisis, who was as kind as your own mother? I did. Swami Sarvagatananda was my best friend for over 30 years, until he died of old age.
We celebrate his birth anniversary on Thanksgiving every year.

My Christian friends sometimes wonder why I became interested in . If they had a friend like Swami, they would understand. Finding such great souls during one’s lifetime is rare, someone willing to be the best friend to me and my family, when my son was a baby.
