The recent events that occurred in Georgia on March 16,2021 is incredibly disheartening.
Eight people lost their lives at the hand of a xenophobic hate crime. Eight people won’t be returning home, eight people will not celebrate another birthday or be seen by their loved ones. Because someone woke up and decided that they “had a bad day”. We as a nation have to stop perpetuating the idea that racism doesn’t exist. We have to stop making excuses to call out acts of terrorism. That this is a thing of the past, because it is simply not true. Racism is a public health issue. So we must not make excuses for acts is terrorism against any group, especially marginalized ones. We stand against and will cannot tolerate it any more.
