From Boston College to the Society of Jesus!

Congratulations to BC alum Sam Sawyer, editor in chief of America Magazine - The Jesuit Review, who recently pronounced his Final Vows as a Jesuit.

Fr. Sawyer signed his handwritten vows before the USA Jesuits East Provincial Joseph O'Keefe, SJ, who had had known him as an 18-year-old student at Boston College before welcoming him as a brother Jesuit.

Why did a "Rethinking College" story on PBS News Hour single out Boston College?

Because BC's newest school is expanding opportunities for more people to join our Boston College family.

Messina College is the new 2-year, fully residential associate's degree program tailored for first-generation and low-income students. Students who finish Messina with a 3.4 grade point average or higher are guaranteed a spot in BC's bachelor's degree program. Messina enrolled its first class of 100 students in 2024, and 96 percent returned this year.

For moments like these, and so much more, we’re grateful for the Heights of Boston College. ❤️💛

Happy Thanksgiving!

11/26/2025

A few weeks ago, we gathered with more than 200 Boston College alumni who lead the way as volunteers for the Heights. From class reunions, to industry networking nights, to local chapter service projects, these alumni know what it means to be Eagles for others through every stage of life. They live out the adage, “once an Eagle, always an Eagle” and we couldn’t be more grateful!

We Are BC!

Stay connected to BC with the Boston College Alumni Association. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle!

Our Mission

Boston College is committed to maintaining and strengthening the Jesuit, Catholic heritage of the University, and especially its commitment to integrating intellectual, personal, ethical, and religious formation; and to uniting high academic achievement with service to others.

Jesuits are active in all aspects of University life. Over 50 Jesuits serve the University as members of the administration, faculty, or staff. Community members also offer Ignatian retreats and spiritual direction to faculty, staff, and students. There are Jesuits from several countries who are studying for graduate degrees or serving as visiting scholars.
