We hope you and your family are well and enjoying the last days of summer. Our first District Multilingual Learners Advisory Committee (DELAC) bimonthly meeting for the school year 2023/2024 is on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 pm on Zoom.

At this meeting, Jenny Marcelin, our DELAC Co-chair, has invited representatives from Benjamin Franklin Institute and Sitters for Scholars to discuss their programs and resources. Also, Farah Hilowle, from Boston Public Schools Adult Education will share information on adult education opportunities and registration process. Lastly, we will discuss the executive vacancies in DELAC and our upcoming elections during our November meeting.

BPS will add Halal and Kosher meal options for students this year. Our Executive Chef recently met with families to receive input on what items they would like to see featured on the menu.

FYI: Adult Ed Enrollment BPS Adult Ed is enrolling for the fall semester and we want to prioritize BPS parents. One great way to advertise our program to BPS parents is through school newsletters. If you are able, please share the following message with your school community: BPS Adult Ed is enrolling for the fall semester. We offer high school diploma programs, ESOL classes, and vocational training programs to any adult 18+. Please note: This special School Committee meeting, which is focused on the Superintendent's self-evaluation, will not feature a public comment period. There will be an opportunity for public comment on her evaluation at the next regular Committee meeting on August 30, at which time the Committee will present its evaluation of the Superintendent for SY 2022-23.

Interpretation: Simultaneous interpretation services will be provided throughout the meeting in Spanish, Cabo Verdean, Haitian Creole, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and American Sign Language (ASL). When you join the meeting, look for the interpretation icon (the globe) at the bottom of your screen and select your language preference.

School is over and Summer vacation has officially begun. What better way to kick things off than with a BBQ with all your fellow BPS family members?

Make sure to put the CPC’s In-Person, End-of-Year Celebration on your calendars for Tuesday, June 27!

We will be meeting in-person for food, fellowship and fun, and we will also be hosting the event on Zoom for those who cannot be with us in-person.
