Today we flipped the script. Inspired by Randy Pausch’s famous “Last Lecture,” we hosted The First Lecture…a moment not about looking back, but about looking ahead.
Instead of asking someone what wisdom they’d leave behind, we asked: What do you want the world to know as you begin?
Today, we had the honor of introducing Kate Carrier to give their first lecture. Kate shared their voice, ideas, and vision with our community. The beginning of something powerful!
Because sometimes the most important lecture… is the first one.

Tomorrow, 4/02: What if, instead of a final lecture, we celebrated the very first one?
Join us for Suffolk University’s inaugural “The First Lecture,” where one of our own students selected by the university community shares the ideas, lessons, and hopes shaping the start of their professional and academic journey. This powerful and inspiring talk centers on the voices of emerging scholars and highlights the vision that represents the future of our university community and beyond.
Our lecturer this semester is Kate Carrier, Class of 2026.
Come to the Smith Commons ready to reflect on your own journey and celebrate the brilliance already growing among us!
