What is a zine? Zines and magazines. What's the difference? - Flipsnack 03/29/2020

Hey all,
Our former Dean of Students, Gina Capra reached out today to send out the word about a zine she is working on... Take a look at this...

FROM GINA...
Hello All! Gina Capra from Portland, Maine, USA here. I have started 'The Quaranzine Project', which is a community-based digital zine project. If you don't know what a zine is, you can find a basic overview here: https://blog.flipsnack.com/what-is-a-zine/. The website and Instagram pages will be going live this Friday, but until then, I need some submissions to get it started!
Here is what I am looking for: I am asking people to submit 1-2 zine pages reflecting on your experiences during the coronavirus pandemic. Submissions need to be made in a square format (any size will do, but it needs to fit the standard, square Instagram frame). You can use any creative medium (writing, poetry, drawing, painting, collage, etc.) to tell your story. Once your art is complete, just scan or snap a clear photo of it, and send it to me at [email protected]. JPEG or .PNG format would be best.
All submissions will be posted to The Quaranzine Project website and Instagram page (which I will share addresses for shortly). If you want to include your name, age, location, and Instagram username, I can include that info with your art and tag you. Alternately, I can post your art anonymously (but would at least like to add your location)! I am hoping that we can get submissions from across the nation and globe! Kiddos are welcome to contibute as well!
(Note: The Quarazine Project is an empowering space where community members can lift each other up during a time when we can benefit from solidarity. Offensive, discriminatory, or shaming posts will not be included.)
The goal of this project is to document peoples' lived experiances with the pandemic, and to build community and solidarity through art. I hope you will get involved, and please share with others who may are interested! My goal is to get submisisons from across the nation and globe! Be well, all!

Trump Cut Funding for Libraries? So what?! 02/18/2020

Show this to your friends and family... then send them to the link we’ve provided in the comments.

Trump Cut Funding for Libraries? So what?! Unfortunately, that's the response we hear most often because most Americans don’t know what the Institute of Museum and Library Services does. Which makes it hard to care about when it gets cut.
