It’s Minimalist Monday!!!!! Here’s a super easy change you can make that will help reduce waste. Remember we don’t need to be perfect but small changes add up to a big difference.
It’s much easier to recycle glass or aluminum than plastic. And those paper cartons can’t be recycled at all. Replace any beverages you buy in cartons or plastic with glass or aluminum. Milk, coconut water, and seltzer water are all items where you can make this switch.
I use a lot of coconut water to make my smoothies. Here’s my favorite recipe (and no plastic cup/straw like your store bought smoothie):
Handful frozen mango.
One frozen banana.
Handful of spinach.
Tablespoon of psyllium husk (mad fiber).
Scoop of protein powder.
Coconut water to desired consistency.
I follow a lot of badass women who I consider to be Girls on Fire in the eco friendly world. Check out their IG for more tips and ideas. .eco .zero.waste

“Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self acceptance.” - Brené Brown
Belonging - a primal need connected to our first chakra. When your thoughts are telling you otherwise, root into the earth with power and say to yourself again and again, “I belong.”

It’s almost berry season!!! Raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries...oh my! Buying berries in season means super flavorful treats that are not contained in plastic! It’s impossible to buy these beauties out of season plastic free.
Berries don’t last long so a few tips to preserve their shelf life...
Always store in the fridge.
Don’t rinse them until you are ready to eat.
Store them as flat as possibly. Shallow, long containers so they can spread out.
Once your berries are starting to turn, freeze them immediately. You can make delicious smoothies with the frozen fruit!

The pouch. My secret shame. I’ve relied on these for years as a quick hit of veggies for my boy. Seeing them piled up like this is eye opening. Luckily, I can recycle these through but I am not buying anymore again! My son can eat real fruit/veggies and smoothies are a great alternative. The first step to low waste living is to reduce.
What can you stop buying and replace with a lower waste alternative?
