Boston University Office of Technology Development Maximize collisions, Minimize friction & to Encourage, Educate and Enable the BU community to realize the commercial potential of their ideas.

The Office of Technology Development's (OTD) main focus is to commercialize the inventions and discoveries that emerge from Boston University research. Our objective is to ensure the development of our groundbreaking research and discoveries by facilitating collaborations with the entrepreneurial and industrial ecosystems through licensing, sponsorship, and new ventures.

The Office of Technology Development is supervised by our Managing Director, Vinit Nijhawan, with a Business Development Directer in each of our commercial avenues: Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Medical Devices & Instrumentation, and New Ventures. Our Intellectual Property & Licensing department is managed by several Directors of IP and Licensing while the Operations team presides over the Administrative and Financing aspects of the office.
