Learn how Morse Constructions fast-tracked the career of their employee Matty Dickman CA ’26, modeling how other companies can partner with NBSS to advance their workforce and continue reaching their goals well into the future.

All smiles as we near the end of a significant building maintenance project at 150 North Street! Pictured here are board member and retired architect Marc Margulies, School President Sarah B. Cunningham, and Director of Facilities & Technology Marc Dreyfus. This summer, Marc Dreyfus led a multi-month repair project to the School's exterior. We are grateful for his work and for the support provided along the way by board members like Marc Margulies.

Last week we wrapped up the Summer 2026 Teen Craft & Trade Intensives with a Bookbinding session where students made a beautiful set of multi-signature books. Here are a handful of moments from the last several sessions which included workshops in jewelry making, woodworking, bookbinding, and carpentry.

Thank you to all the students, instructors, and teaching assistants for a fun season! Students walked away with work they should be proud of.

Keep an eye out for what sessions we will offer in the winter and spring intensives at https://hubs.la/Q04tk3Rx0

Two weeks ago, NBSS alumni and faculty from the Piano Technology program (and NBSS staff members too!) traveled to Arlington, Virginia for the annual Piano Technicians Guild Convention. It's always a fun opportunity to reconnect, meet new folks from the industry, learn from one another, and be merry. Thank you to everyone who helped put on this year's event—the team included some familiar faces from NBSS past and present!

And thank you to Corie Melaugh PT ’21, PA ’22 (who also worked as IT Coordinator for the event) for sharing photos.

One shed from the 2025–2026 Carpentry cohort is still available!

Every year, the Carpentry program splits into small teams and each group builds an 8' x 14' studio shed to hone in on their framing and finishing skills. Crafted with care and precision, each shed is stick-framed and features cedar shingles on three sides, primed cedar clapboard on the front, and a durable asphalt shingle roof. The structure includes two windows with hand milled trim and a sliding barn door. Unpainted and unfinished inside, these shed allow you to personalize the space to match your home or garden.

Proceeds go directly toward purchasing materials for next year’s class projects. Learn more about the remaining shed by visiting https://hubs.la/Q04rSjym0. And don't forget to check back for a fresh round of sheds for sale later this year!
