“Electrification was voted, by the National Academy of Engineers, as the top engineering achievement of the 20th century. But, does the grid meet the demands for the 21st century? Currently we have an aging grid infrastructure. And, we are seeing increasing strains on the grid from both climate change, intermittency from a rapidly growth of renewable energy, and cybersecurity attacks.

Artificial Intelligence is showing promise as a technology which can helping us modernize the grid. This includes finding more optimal operations that limit greenhouse gas emissions while also increasing the resiliency of the grid from extreme weather, intermittency of renewable energy, and cyber-attacks. The purpose of this talk is to provide a light overview of how A.I. is helping us modernize the grid. And, we will touch on ways that we can collaborate to help realize this vision.” - Jon Wallace, P.E., CEM
