Irene Li co-founded Mei Mei with her two older siblings in 2012, and since 2018 she has been at the helm with the help of our awesome team. “Mei Mei” (pronounced may-may) means little sister in Chinese. Mei Mei food is an expression of the Li sibling’s favorite childhood eating experiences as Chinese-American kids growing up in Boston. Mei Mei uses meat that is pasture-raised, humanely slaughtered and sourced from the Northeast. We also work with small, independent family farms and producers and are able to source 70% of produce from the Northeast across the year. We are also an “Open Book” company, meaning we share our financial information with all staff, empowering them to think and act like managers regardless of their role or title.

We kicked off our first university pop-up of the school year this week at Northeastern University! 🥟🎓 Northeastern Dining Boston ✨

Students stopped by for Mei Mei Dumplings at lunch and got hands-on at our dumpling folding station. A delicious way to start the semester! 😋

A big thank you to Northeastern for having us, and to Farm Fresh Rhode Island for helping bring local food producers like Mei Mei to campuses across the region. 💛

🌧️🥟Sept 26th is NATIONAL DUMPLING DAY and our favorite excuse to celebrate the little pockets of goodness that show up in almost every food culture on earth, from jiaozi and momos to pierogi, gyoza, mandu and empanadas. Every culture has its own fold, filling and story.

Celebrate today by visiting your favorite local dumpling shop, try a dumpling you’ve never had, or gather some friends and make a batch at home!

 
We’re celebrating with Bottomless Dumplings at the Factory Cafe on Saturday, September 26 (12pm and 2pm seatings), with special giveaways like dumpling packs, merch and more! Tickets are $32.66 and walk-ins welcome.

In our Noodle Making Class, you’ll learn how to work with dough, develop gluten, and use the techniques behind both traditional and creative Chinese noodle styles.
