The BD Scholarship was established by Becton, Dickinson and Company in partnership with UNCF to provide a merit-based award to current college juniors and seniors who are enrolled full-time at any UNCF Member Institutions, other HBCUs or any accredited 4-year college or university during the 2025-2026 academic year.
Eligible students must possess a minimum GPA of 2.8 or higher and majoring in Healthcare disciplines such asBbiomedical Science, Biology, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Global Health, Nursing, Pharmacy or Science Technology.
As it pertains to the New England Region, preference shall be given to students who are residents of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. UNCF On The Vineyard
On Thursday, August 14, UNCF held its 2nd Annual HarborView Chat at Atria in Edgartown. This year’s distinguished panel was moderated by Kim Godwin, Career Journalist and Former President of ABC News and featured Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis, President & CEO of Benedict College, Depelsha McGruder, Chief Operating Officer & Treasurer of The Ford Foundation and Dr. Michael L. Lomax, President & CEO of UNCF. Dr. George French, President of Clark Atlanta University, provided special remarks.
The topic for the 2nd Annual UNCF HarborView Chat was The Wealth-Building Power of HBCUs. The panelists explored the pivotal role of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) as engines of socioeconomic mobility and institutional wealth building. Beyond providing a transformative education, HBCUs are powerful catalysts for intergenerational advancement and regional economic vitality.

Until We Meet Again!
Last night we celebrated the conculsion of our 4th cohort of UNCF Lighted Pathways and Ernest E. Just Interns in Boston! This summer was absolutely incredible. Watching these amazing, talented students thrive in their respective roles within our city's Asset Management, Bio and Life Sciences Industry was truly rewarding.
As they prepare to depart Boston on Saturday and prepare for the next chapter in their lives, they know Boston will also be a home to them with an amazing family and network of supporters here to cheer them on every step of the way. They are poised, invigorated and ready to take on any obstacle that may be ahead of them. Their lights are shining bright and each of them will be leaders in their own way in the very near future.
We look forward to watching their continued growth and are honored to be a small part of their professional journey. Cheers to another successful summer in Boston for our UNCF New England Region!

Leading With Purpose
The UNCF New England Area Office hosted its Inaguaral "She Leads: Lift As We Rise" Breakfast on Wednesday, June 11 at the UMass Boston Club. The event had nearly 100 remarkable women in attendace including Massacusetts Governor Maura T. Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll.
The all HBCU Almnae intergenerational panel focused on navigating career evolution, cultivating resilience and mental well-being, and leveraging the power of community and mentorship. The insight they shared on their personal life and career journey underscored the critical importance of defining and living with purpose. We were also delighted to a few of our talented, female Lighted Pathways and Ernest E. Just student interns in the room for this inspirational discussion.

This event marked the inaugural "She Leads" breakfast aimed to foster a strong, interconnected leadership network of women. Many of the women in the room have, in their own way, shaped and continue to define the world in which we live. UNCF New England was honored to bring nearly 100 remarkable women across generations together under our umbrella to connect, uplift and lead.

What a Start to the Summer of 2025 in New England!
On Wednesday, we welcomed our 4th cohort of UNCF Lighted Pathways and Ernest E. Just Interns to Boston at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston! We are excited to watch the journey of these talented 31 students as they embark on their internship journey in Boston's Top Asset Management, Bio and Life Sciences companies.
The room was filled with energy as our interns received words of wisdom, inspiration and encouragement from everyone in the room. We are excited to see first-hand the professional growth and development of our Lighted Pathways and Ernest E. Just Interns over the next 9-weeks.
