If you're a returning student or scholar and would like to get a new travel signature or have any questions, please come see us as well!
During registration period, the HIO will be operating on extended hours, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. Please remember your passport, I-20 or DS-2019 form. After September 5th, the HIO will return to its normal schedule.

Travel signatures are valid for one year, except for short-term scholars and students on OPT. If you need a signature, drop by the HIO in the Smith Campus Center weekdays from 9 am to 3 pm.

Spouse/Partner Orientation
Tuesday, October 3rd
10:00 a.m. to 12:00p.m.
Smith Center Room 860
This 90 minute session focuses on the needs of the spouse or partner accompanying the student or scholar to Harvard. It covers, among other things, J-2 work permission, shopping information, adjustment to a new culture, etc. Students and scholars are welcome to attend. Children must be carefully supervised by their parents.

Central Square and Memorial Drive: In Central Square you will be introduced to a number of grocery stores, and a very small department store. We will take a bus to Memorial Drive where we will visit a computer/electronic store and two grocery stores. Be sure to bring exact change of $2.75(one way) in cash/Charlie Ticket or have a $2.25 (one way) on your Charlie Card for the bus ride. At total of $5.50 or $4.50 will be needed for a roundtrip. This tour lasts for about two and a half hours.
To reserve a spot, end an email message to [email protected]. Please put the words “10/04/17 Walking Tour” in the subject line. A message will be sent with information on where to meet or of a cancellation in case of inclement weather.

Welcome (back) to campus! If you're returning for the Fall, take a look at your I-20 or DS-2019 and check to see if you need a new travel signature*. If you do, come visit our office with your forms and your passport to get a new signature. If you're coming to campus for the first time, please stop by with those same documents to register with us!
*Travel signatures are valid for 12 months for all returning students and scholars, except for students on post-completion OPT, whose signatures are valid for 6 months.
