Through the vision and efforts of dedicated Boston area leaders in the spheres of finance, education, and faith, Boston Trinity Academy opened its doors in September 2002. These founders shared a common goal to address one of the greatest needs for the young people of Boston — a rigorous college preparatory school founded on the principles of the Christian faith that is accessible to students from all neighborhoods, ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds. As a result of this vision, Boston Trinity Academy was designed to incorporate a program based on academic rigor enriched with co-curricular activities while educating a truly diverse student body.

Last month, former History Teacher Dr. Mike Milway made an appearance at BTA’s weekly chapel. During his visit, the BTA community lifted up their voices to revive one of the school’s longest standing chapel traditions: the singing of “Dona Nobis Pacem” (Latin for “give us peace”), just as Dr. Milway had instructed generations of BTA students to do during his 12 years at the school.

Last Friday, BTA students and faculty participated in Boston Day, where students were able to learn more about Boston by engaging in projects and field trips that allowed them to learn more about the city’s culture, diversity and heritage. Students visited sites across the city with social, historical and artistic significance, and learned to see the city and its people in new ways.

Last Wednesday, BTA hosted its 25th annual Convocation. Headmaster Emeritus Frank Guerra addressed a packed crowd in our Bradley Center, drawing upon examples from the Bible, the movie Rocky, and his father’s experience in the military to drive home that “what we believe shapes our lives”. His remarks were a great way to get students, staff and other attendees to reflect on how BTA’s mission extends well beyond the classroom and set the tone for the school year ahead.

BTA finished the first week of the school year with two events bringing our Middle School and Upper School communities together. The Middle School Social allowed our youngest students to play games, connect with friends and enjoy some time away from their classes. Our Upper Schoolers attended our Activity Fair, which allowed them to learn about the many ways to get involved, gain leadership skills and make connections at Boston Trinity.

BTA is excited to welcome 8 new faculty, staff members, and administrators this fall. These adult learners bring a wealth of experience to our school and will all be helping out with extracurriculars as well. We can’t wait to see how they contribute to our community!

Last summer, BTA students had the unique opportunity to see their curriculum in action on a trip to Italy. This experience brought together BTA faculty expertise and Dr. David Alvis from Wofford College for an immersive study of the Renaissance and early Christian church. Students traveled from Florence to Rome, exploring Italy’s contributions to art, architecture, religion, literature, history and Western civilization that they had studied at BTA. This journey allowed students to take these concepts outside the classroom, turning academic study into an immersive and memorable experience.

It may only be the first week of school, but we’re already looking forward to next year!

Last week, BTA welcomed our newest Lions to campus during our New Student Orientation. Students were able to receive school tours, connect with other new students, student leaders and faculty, and learn about ways they can get involved and feel supported on campus.
These students are ready to make the most of their time at BTA, and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish!

This recognition is a testament to Shoshanna’s leadership, dedication and commitment to helping guide students through the college search process. We are proud to celebrate the impact that she has made on our students.
