This summer as part of our chapters Freedom by Design initiative, AIAS BAC and the BSA came together to create an opportunity centered around design, mentorship, and making architecture more accessible to the community.
Over the course of three design charrettes, groups of students were challenged to reimagine the new BSA Space in Downtown Boston. Through site analysis, architectural observations, sketching, diagramming, and model making, students developed their ideas while thinking about how the BSA Space could engage the public, educate the community, and create a more accessible connection to architecture and design.
A huge thank you to our BAC Design Volunteers who dedicated their time to mentoring groups of students throughout the charrette. Your willingness to share your knowledge, encourage new ideas, answer questions, and guide students through the design process played an important role in making this collaboration possible.
