This Saturday, August 22 — Malifoli: Traditional Rhythms of Mali & Guinea 🥁

Come out to Riverstage this Saturday for something we don't get to host often — a full evening of West African drumming.

The night opens with a performance by Moussa Traoré's own student ensemble — folks who've been learning these rhythms through his community classes. Then Moussa and Malifoli take over for the main set: traditional drumming from Mali and Guinea, played by someone who's been doing this for 40+ years (12-year apprenticeship in Bamako, now teaches at Berklee and Harvard). It's a different vibe from our usual band nights, and it's the kind of thing you don't see on an outdoor stage very often.
