Isaiah Morisset says Franklin Cummings Tech helped him achieve his dreams by connecting him to his employer, Johnson Controls, where he landed a co-op while enrolled in the HVAC&R Technology certificate program. Upon earning his certificate in 2025, he was hired by Johnson Controls as a full-time HVAC technician, but discovered the field of Building Energy Management (BEM) and became fascinated with the technology. "BEM is the future of HVAC," Isaiah said. "Everything is getting computerized, automated." BEM focuses on measuring, analyzing, and optimizing energy consumption in commercial, industrial, and residential facilities. Professionals in this field—such as energy managers, analysts, and systems specialists—lower operational costs, reduce carbon footprints, and improve indoor comfort without sacrificing occupant needs.

To build his skills and expand his career options at Johnson Controls, Isaiah completed the FC Tech BEM associate degree program and is now poised to start the college's Business Management bachelor's degree in Fall 2026.

He was able to stack his credits from the HVAC certificate and the associate degree, putting him on track to earn his bachelor's in Management with just two additional years of study--fully online.

Today's Summer Career Fair gave HVAC&R (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration) students and alumni the chance to make a great impression, share their skills, and explore entry-level opportunities with companies ready to hire. The event featured a series of small group meetings instead of a traditional tabling event, thus allowing students and employers to make more personal connections. Many thanks to the employer partners who attended and the HVAC students for being so well-prepared!

Meet Nicholas Quarantiello, a 2026 graduate of the Franklin Cummings Tech HVAC&R Technology program who is now pursuing an associate degree in Building Energy Management. Nicholas loved the hands-on experience in the HVAC program, where he learned to troubleshoot a wide variety of heating, cooling, and refrigeration issues. He especially enjoyed learning about "smart building" technology, the computerized systems that adjust heating, cooling, air flow, and other systems to improve energy efficiency and keep building occupants comfortable. He was able to apply the credits from his HVAC program toward the Building Energy Management program, putting him on a path to complete his associate degree with just one additional year of study. Nicholas landed a co-op job this summer at Automated Logic, where he is putting his skills to work as a building energy management technician.

Meet another member of our Class of 2026! Aiden graduated in May with his associate degree in Mechatronics. He said he built a strong sense of community at Franklin Cummings Tech, especially with the professors in his program.
