As we close out the year, we’re reflecting on what it looks like to put equity into action — supporting residents, investing in community, and strengthening access to City services across Boston.

These numbers represent real people, real partnerships, and everyday work to make government more accessible, responsive, and inclusive.

Thank you to our community partners, City colleagues, and residents who continue to shape this work with us. 💚

This work is made possible through collaboration across all Equity and Inclusion departments and community partners.

Today, leaders from the City of Boston’s Equity & Inclusion Cabinet—Lori Nelson, Senior Advisor on Racial Justice, and Dana Alas, Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office of Women’s Advancement—joined a cross-sector roundtable hosted by YW Boston and Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley.

Black women across industries continue to convene in spaces like this to reflect on the added pressures and often unrecognized contributions that shape our workplace experiences. This conversation offered another opportunity to share perspectives and deepen our understanding of the challenges women face across sectors.

Congresswoman Pressley’s leadership on issues disproportionately affecting Black women closely aligns with the mission of the Equity & Inclusion Cabinet. Being part of today’s dialogue underscores the importance of continuing to listen, collaborate, and advance solutions that support the wellbeing and advancement of Black women in Boston.

I’m proud to share that Boston has been selected to receive a Global Cities Fund for Migrants and Refugees (GCF) grant from the Mayor’s Migration Council (MMC).

This transformative support will allow us to launch Boston’s first immigrant-led homecare cooperative—an innovative solution that serves our aging population while creating stable jobs and building economic mobility for the communities that power our city. 🏙
