Modern Taekwondo Center

Modern Taekwondo Center Modern Taekwondo Center, established in 2009, is a martial arts school dedicated to building a strong community of black belts, one student at a time. Success.

Modern Taekwondo Center (MTC) is dedicated to improving the community through the martial arts, by inspiring committed athletes to focus on their education and proper physical development: creating champions both in life and on the mat. We provide age appropriate martial arts-based programming for girls and boys of all ages. Training at Modern Taekwondo Center (MTC) offers these benefits and more.

..

Self-confidence:
After a few months of training at Modern Taekwondo Center (MTC), parents begin to notice their child carrying themselves differently and with more confidence. The child's self-assuredness empowers them to stand up to adversity and to use their voice when conflict arises. This confidence, of course, spills over to their school work and extracurricular activities and they begin to excel in all areas. Self-Discipline:
MTC parents also notice an improvement in behavior at home. Our ability to link rank promotion to how they are doing in the classroom and at home really helps reinforce certain habits. Exercise:
MTC parents notice that their child starts forming a habit of moving and becoming more physically active, taking pride in their training. The MTC programs improve their balance, coordination, and timing. Not to mention the improvement in speed, stamina, and strength. Leadership:
After a year of training, the student starts to develop certain leadership qualities. Our rank system encourages students to take more of a leadership role within their respective groups. They play this role and fulfill this responsibility all the way to the rank of black belt. Some of our more advanced students, who have been with us for 5+ years are now demonstrating these leadership qualities in a team we call STORM (Special Team Of Role Models). Focus:
We say that focus is the ability to block out distractions and this is what we test in the students every class. At MTC, the parents are allowed to watch the classes that are in session, filling the space with a lot of distractions. The burden is on the instructors to keep the students engaged and for the students to practice their focus. A formula that has been working well! Quality Instruction:
MTC instructors are passionate about Taekwondo and have been competing and teaching for most of their lives. Master Fredson Gomes, Master Chris Tuozzolo, and Master Amy Maillet have all been training for 24 years. The instructors are all certified by the World Taekwondo Federation and members of the USA Taekwondo association. The instructors are patient and enthusiastic with a strong focus on providing each student with personal attention. Modern Taekwondo Center: Confidence. Building Champions for Life.

Character is revealed when life gets difficult.

Earlier this year, Charlotte lost her father. Just before the 2026 USA Taekwondo National Championships, she became seriously ill and was hospitalized. She was given every opportunity to withdraw from the competition.

Instead, she chose to step onto the mat.

Charlotte earned a National Silver Medal in Board Breaking, advanced to the Poomsae Finals, and this week her inspiring story was featured in The Quincy Sun.

Congratulations, Charlotte. We are incredibly proud of you.

The medals and smiles reflect the pride of achievement, but the real victory is who these students are becoming.

At yesterday’s MA State Tournament, our athletes delivered strong performances and qualified for Nationals. But what stood out most, and what we were personally complimented on again, was their respect, composure, and the way they supported one another throughout the day.

As a parent, those are the moments that matter. The confidence to step forward, the discipline to stay focused, and the character to represent themselves well in any room.

That’s what we work on every day.
