In honor of Women's History Month, we are proud to highlight exceptional women athletes who we have honored at our annual Tradition fundraising gala.

Today we recognize Jillian Dempsey, who we honored at our 2022 event. The Winthrop native served six years as captain of the Boston Pride of the now defunct Premier Hockey Federation. Dempsey holds the all-time PHF record in game played, assists, and points.

Special recognition to Boston Bruins' Charlie McAvoy, Jeremy Swayman, and Massachusetts natives Jack Eichel, Matt Boldy, and Noah Hanifin for their outstanding performances. This is a proud moment for USA hockey!

Willie O’Ree, Boston Bruins (1958, 1960-1961)

He became the first Black player to appear in a NHL game when he skated for the Bruins against the Canadiens in 1958. The game of hockey has known no greater ambassador and no greater gentleman.

Bill Russell, Boston Celtics (1957-1969)

He was, quite simply and inarguably, the greatest winner in the history of professional sports. He was also a man of principle and a civil rights champion. There was only one Willam Felton Russell.
