Who’s going to see Iron Maiden in this Wednesday night…?!?

Or anywhere else on their current North American tour…?

This week will be my very first! Myself and my little one get to experience our first concert together 🤘🔥

It will be my eldest boy’s 3rd and the husband’s millionth 😝 but excited we get to go as a family, especially given this band is part of the reason my handsome and I had the chance to meet at all 🥰

Let me know if you’re going and stay tuned to “Holding Space with Erin Jane” this week, only on The Thin Line Rock Station where we’ll no doubt play some maiden songs 🎸🖤

Today we’re going to carry on the theme from yesterday’s Wellness Wednesday 🖤

My favourite term my kiddos have brought home is “nice crash out bro” 😎

Because we can forget that they’re always watching, observing and absorbing not just the things we tell them….but how we show up in this world.

How we treat and speak to people, manage our mental health, regulate our emotions, handle disrespect, in turn show respect while teaching them it’s ok to push back.

So what are they witnessing….? How are you showing them it’s appropriate to navigate this world and everyone in it….? Are you projecting or claiming one thing, while actually acting and behaving in the complete opposite way….? Or are you leading by the best example possible….

Let’s discuss it all and more today on “Holding Space with Erin Jane” from 2pm EST only on The Thin Line Rock Station

I look forward to spending the afternoon with you ☺️🔥

On this Wellness Wednesday…..I might not have time for a full article today, but just a few thoughts 🖤

(And if I get time to expand on it I will 😉)

As our kiddos head back to school this week, I was reminded of something…..

Not only is it our responsibility to teach them everything we can, we must also remember that they’re always watching. So what kind of blueprint or roadmap are we providing them….?

Watching how we treat people, both publicly and privately. How we navigate stress. How we handle challenges and difficult emotions. Our reaction when things don’t go our way. How we respond to disrespect. The way we rise after we fall…..

Not only how we talk to others, but our interactions with those in our immediate orbit. Our parents. Our kids. Our partners and spouses. The way we treat people shows them what’s acceptable….and what’s not.

How you handle conflict. What do you do when you come to the realisation someone isn’t who they claim to be or turns out to not be a good person….? Navigating our mental health. They’re watching that.

The old “Do as I say not as I do” adage doesn’t really apply anymore, when we have the awareness that we can leave an imprint on them that can last a lifetime….both with our words and our actions.

So my Wellness Wednesday challenge to you, is to take a moment and reflect on what your kids might be observing….and would you be happy for them to continue on and perpetuate your actions, choices and behaviours…..?

Because our kids give zero f***s about how many followers you have, how loudly you can beat your chest, who leaves fire emojis in your comments section and lots of s**t that people on places like this can get wrapped up in…..they’re just like “Cool story bro” 🙄

They care about whether you show up when you said you would or follow through on what you promised. How you handle their difficult emotions, whether you are capable of apologising and if you’re a safe person for them to go to.

I’m still learning…..I consider it a privilege to try and show my boys not just with words, but lead by example, of what it’s like to be a good, kind, empathetic and compassionate person.

They also teach me 🩵💚

Working on ourselves isn’t always easy; let’s discuss the realities of “why” today.

Because we don’t always understand that trying to improve and better ourselves can be difficult, confronting and exhausting.

That healing from things buried long ago or processing the things we don’t often talk about, especially as First Responders, can be daunting, overwhelming at times and deplete you emotionally, physically and psychologically.

Even when we know it will serve us in the long run...it can still make us want to quit. It can cause such discomfort, it feels insurmountable to endure and push through, even though we know the definition of “hard things” all too well….

Join me from 2pm EST only on The Thin Line Rock Station for “Holding Space with Erin Jane” today.

I look forward to spending some time with you 🖤🔥

Tomorrow we’re going to talk about what to do, when we find ourselves with challenging people in our lives. I feel like as First Responders, we really get to run the gamut with interesting characters and personalities…🙃

Many of us have experienced this at some stage….and some still are, so that’s why we’re going to talk about it. Because like many other aspects, if no one is talking about it, people struggling won’t know they’re not alone 🖤

So let’s discuss when it’s appropriate to offer someone grace, compassion and even forgiveness….and when to distance, disengage and walk away from those toxic people 🗑️

We’ll touch on “the grey rock method”, explain what DARVO is and how hard it can be to wrestle with these kinds of decisions.

Let’s discuss the fundamental aspects to consider when choosing to forgive, what we need to see to offer grace and expectations of actions, not just cheap words, moving forward.

Because at the end of the day, other people’s bulls**t is not YOUR responsibility to handle…..its ok to choose yourself 😉

Join me for our regular Thursday afternoon date, 2pm-4pm EST only on The Thin Line Rock Station 🔥

We might even get a little spicy with our first song….😎🌶️

If we bury things, we often think they’ll stay buried forever. The reasons why may differ….sometimes we might think it’s because we’ve processed and healed….other times, it’s because we think something hasn’t bothered us…..until it does.

I heard a great line on a podcast called Secondhand Therapy Podcast “Second Hand Therapy” which said we may bury things…..but what we may not realise is sometimes we bury them alive. So they’re still there…..clawing for anyway to get out and resurface.

So perhaps some of our experiences, especially given our extensive exposure to trauma as First Responders, can be more like a volcano at times; one that’s dormant, but not extinct.

So the topic of today’s show is “How will you manage when the volcano erupts…?” Meaning do you know what to do when you experience a visceral reaction or nervous system activation that you weren’t anticipating, or feels overwhelming and disproportionate to what’s happening in the moment…..?

We discuss this today and much more, on “Holding Space with Erin Jane” 🖤 I hope you’ll join me from 2pm EST only on The Thin Line Rock Station 🔥

And stay tuned for Rob Swan straight afterwards from 4pm 😉
