Lewis Lab at MIT

Lewis Lab at MIT We are a human Neuroimaging lab at Massachusetts Institute of Technology led by Professor Laura Lewis To answer this question, our research aims to:

1.

The brain dynamically shifts its functional properties from moment to moment, enabling flexible modulation of neural computation depending on the internal state of the brain. For example, switching between different arousal states – such as sleep, wake, attention, and distraction – leads to dramatic changes in neural computation and cognition. How do the brain’s control systems reshape its functio

nal network structure dynamically over time, and what computational role does this network reorganization play in cognition? Develop computational and signal processing approaches for neuroimaging data that enable new kinds of analyses of human brain physiology and function at subsecond timescales.

2. Apply these tools to study how neural computation is dynamically modulated across sleep, wake, attentional, and affective states.

3. Translate these technologies to clinical applications, studying how sleep affects brain networks and physiology in neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders.

Researchers at Boston University want to study you to understand how sleep and mood are related in individuals diagnosed with depression and those without depression.

How?
You will be analyzed while well rested and while sleep deprived (up to 26 hours) where researchers will use EEG and fMRI to look at brain network activity, assess mood with questionnaires, and analyze blood samples for biological markers.

Why Should I Participate?
Your participation would be instrumental in helping understand how sleep deprivation can improve the quality of life for those living with depression. You would be compensated for your time up to $585 depending on your level of participation.

How Do I Enroll?
First, complete the online pre-screening form to determine if you are eligible. If eligible, a researcher will contact you to schedule your first session to discuss the study in detail. Sign up at https://redcap.link/dynamo
