At EGMS, we serve a large population of military affiliated students. As a result, we have the amazing opportunity to have a Military Family Life Counselor that meets with our military students weekly. Ms. Suzan Cahanin has made a tremendous impact in so many lives here at EGMS and makes our students feel at home! Thanks for supporting EGMS and all of our military students.

Our Destination Imagination teams competed today in the Louisiana Affiliate DI State Tournament. We are proud to announce their results in the middle school level.

On Read Across America Day, our atudent council members traveled over to Sun City Elementary to spread the love of reading. They read books to Kindergarten through 3rd grade classes and all kids had a blast. We are super proud of our Eagles for giving back to their community.

Mrs. Pam Anderson is our High Flyer of the Week of February 11th! She is a fantastic math teacher and builds meaningful connections with her students. You can ask any student (past or present) and they will tell you Mrs. Anderson knows and loves math almost as much as she loves her students. Not only is she always willing to help any student master necessary math skills, she shares her knowledge of math standards with her coworkers. EGMS is thankful to have Mrs. Anderson as part of our team.

📣High Flyer Alert📣
Mrs. Anna Gray is our High Flyer for LAST week. She is a wonderful math teacher who is super organized and very helpful to her students. Mrs. Gray is doing a great job as the 4H sponsor and her students are enjoying the program very much this year. She is a valued member of the sixth grade red pod and is always willing to listen to her colleagues and help them navigate an issue or bring an amazing idea to life. EGMS is thankful to have Mrs. Gray as part of our family.

📣High Flyer Alert📣
Ms. Kara Stephenson is our High Flyer of the Week. Ms. Stephenson is a favorite among the students and her co-workers. She supports her students academically and engages them through classroom hands-on activities for each unit such as Stonehenge paintings, Glow in the Dark Annotating, Migrant Museum Day, and traveling through Hogwarts on their way to writing an essay. The students love that she dresses the part for each of these activities. Outside of the classroom, she serves as Mascot Sponsor, Destination Imagination Team manager, and attends as many extracurricular events as possible. EGMS is blessed that Ms. Stephenson is part of our family.

Future Panthers Night with the Lady Panthers Softball team was a huge success for our Lady Eagles! The Lady Eagles defeated Providence in our first scrimmage of the year 8-1. Thank you Coach Burley and the Lady Panthers for inviting us to play before your game and getting our girls excited for high school sports!

Attention students!
Don't you all love free dress days and Sonic drinks?
What about basketball? Are you eager to show off your skills?
Well you are in luck! Friday is GO RED Day and we are having a basketball shoot out competition to raise money for the American Heart Association.
How does the basketball shootout work?
Every class period in PE, teachers will take up donations and have a basketball shootout. Only those who donate at least $1 will be eligible to participate. The last student remaining in each class period will win a Sonic drink and Free Dress on March 3rd. We will do this in PE tomorrow and Friday so don't forget your dollar!
ALSO, wear red uniform shirts on Friday

Congratulations to our Elm Grove fishing team. They battled the cold rain and wind this weekend. Seth Farrah and Joshua Gallman had 14.73 for a second place finish. Landen Patrick and Tallen Toups finished in 13th place. Conner Tamsak and Ash Reehm also earned points. Great job to all three teams.

Congrats to our Outstanding School Support Person of the Year, Tracy Carter. She is our book keeper/secretary and is absolutely amazing. She volunteers at almost every sporting event and never hesitates to pitch in when someone needs help. She is a blessing to us at EGMS and is the glue that holds this place together. Staff, parents, and students just adore her. Join us in Congratulating her!
