Welcome Tara Rethwill as the Director of Oregon Trail Academy!
Tara began her career as a social studies teacher in Vancouver Public Schools, where she earned her National Board Certification, and has since served in instructional, curriculum, program, and school leadership roles with the Gresham-Barlow and North Clackamas school districts, including as an Assistant Principal at Centennial High School. She holds a bachelor's degree in history from Western Oregon University, a master's in education from Concordia University, and an administrator license from George Fox University. Throughout her career, she has been committed to building strong relationships, supporting educators, and creating systems that help students and schools thrive.
Tara is no stranger to OTA. She has been part of our school community since 2017, when her oldest son started kindergarten. All three of her children have attended OTA, and her youngest is currently a fourth grader. A Sandy High School graduate, Tara also has deep roots in our local community.
What makes this next chapter especially meaningful is the combination of Tara’s educational leadership experience and her years as an OTA parent. She knows our school, our community, and what makes Oregon Trail Academy such a special place.
Tara is excited to partner with our students, staff, and families as we continue building on OTA’s strengths and creating an incredible place for our students to learn and grow!
Please join us in giving Tara a warm welcome! We are excited for the year ahead and this next chapter at Oregon Trail Academy.
