First Fantasy is an attempt of mine to provide engaging and progressively challenging reading materials for children of all ages and reading abilities. A 14-year-old who is just learning to read English, will probably not be as interested in reading books about someone's puppy as the 2nd Grade reader those books are aimed at. Yet at the early English reading levels those are the fictional stories
students are provided. First Fantasy aims to turn this on its head using a world full of magic, monsters, and relatable heroes. I want to provide picture books that are as engaging for your 2nd Grader as they would be for your 8th Grade English Language Learner. What's unique about First Fantasy story lines is that they will grow with your reader as well. As the characters develop, so will your reader with stories gradually becoming more and more complex. The reader's investment in the characters' stories will also provide an incentive for the reader to step out of their comfort zone and challenge themselves in reading more difficult texts and expanding their vocabulary.
