Chichester School District has revised a new safety plan for the school year back on August 17th determining mask-wearing based on the CDC Covid-19 levels for Deleware County. Below are the categories.
-----------------------------------------------------
* High - Masks are mandatory, indoor events are limited in size to 25% capacity and masks are mandatory for participants and spectators, outdoor events require at least 3 feet of distancing between non-household groups, indoor athletics/activities masks are mandatory for participants and spectators.
* Substantial - Masks are highly recommended no matter vaccination status, indoor events are limited in size to 50% capacity ( 3 feet of social distancing) and masks are required for participants and spectators, outdoor events require at least 3 feet of distancing between non-household groups, athletics/activities masks are highly recommended for participants and spectators.
* In accordance with the CDC’s order on wearing masks on public transportation, masks are required to be worn by school bus passengers and drivers, regardless of any local mask policy or recommendation.
-----------------------------------------------------
* For the whole school year, Deleware County has been in the High range meaning that masks were mandatory. Every Sunday, these numbers are checked, and this previous Sunday (2/20) Delco went to Substantial. This now means masks are highly recommended but do not have to be worn. These numbers could change any given Sunday, so we will update you before the start of each school week. Mind you once masks are deemed mandatory or not mandatory that decision remains for the whole week no matter what the numbers state. Only until the following Sunday will they be rechecked.
* This is solely up to you and your family for how you want to go about wearing or not wearing a mask. Please be considerate to others and the situations they may have.
