🌾 Boonslick Master Gardeners – Field Day Adventure! 🌾

We spent the day at the 2026 Ozark Prairie Master Gardeners Annual Field Day at the beautiful Britton Farm outside of Versailles, and what an inspiring event it was!

From 10:00–4:00, gardeners, naturalists, and curious learners gathered to explore a huge range of hands‑on topics, including:
- Fall vegetable gardening
- Home w**e production
- Homemade herbal gifts
- Drip irrigation
- Propagation of succulents
- Xeriscaping
- Invasive plants
- Native plants
- Monarchs
- Hugelkultur
- Drone demos

Events like this remind us how much knowledge, creativity, and passion exists across Missouri’s Master Gardener community. We’re grateful for the chance to learn, connect, and bring new ideas back home to Boonville.

🦋 Monarch Migration Tagging Day Draws Families to Boonville Katy Depot

Families, gardeners, and butterfly enthusiasts gathered Saturday, September 12, at the Boonville Katy Depot for the Monarch Migration Tagging Workshop and Family Day, hosted by the Boonslick Master Gardeners. 🧡🦋 The event offered hands-on activities, educational presentations on monarch butterfly conservation and pollinator gardening, as well as door prizes for both adults and children. 🎉

After opening comments and introductions by Boonslick Master Gardener Chapter President Eddie Hudson, Boonville Mayor Mike Conway presented a proclamation encouraging residents to support monarch conservation and declaring the day “Monarch Migration Tagging Day in Boonville, MO.” 📜🌼

Kimberly Ann, with Missouri Gardeners and More, spoke about pollinator gardening and explained how pollinator-friendly landscapes benefit monarchs, bees, and other important pollinators. 🐝🌿 She also shared practical ideas families can use at home to create welcoming habitats.

Laura Semken, with the Missouri Conservation Corps, discussed monarch butterflies, their annual migration, and the scientific tagging process researchers use to track their journey. 🦋📍

The United States Postal Service participated by offering a special pictorial cancellation for the event, along with day-of-event souvenir envelopes. ✉️✨ Representatives from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the Missouri Conservation Corps, and a local Girl Scout troop also were available to provide information about their programs.

The day was designed to give residents a better understanding of monarch migration while offering practical steps families can take to support pollinators in their own yards and neighborhoods. 🌿🏡🦋

🎃 Our Monarch Bed at the Depot is officially dressed for fall!

Bright mums, zinnias, pumpkins, and butterfly displays come together to celebrate the monarch migration and the importance of native plants.Boonslick Master Gardeners are proud to maintain this space and share the message: support pollinators, plant native, protect the monarchs. 🌿🦋
